Montezuma!
Iowa's town for all seasons!

Montezuma is proud of its parks............

City Parks

There are two city-operated parks in Montezuma, one at the west end of town, the other near the east end.

West City Park

Located off West Main Street, features playground equipment, picnic shelters, a basketball court and the new Montezuma Skate Park.

It also has lots of green grass and towering trees to enjoy. At one time, the park was a popular campground area.

The skate park opened in September of 2006 after various fund-raising projects, donations and donated labor were done or given in its behalf.

The idea, spearheaded by the not-for-profit Kids Count Committee, was to give area youth a better place to skate.

The skate park is located on a 50- by 100-foot concrete slab at the south end of the park. It features a variety of ramps and is idea for skating, bicycling, in-line skating and BMX biking.

East City Park

The East City Park can be accessed off of 10th Street and lies east and north of Montezuma Manufacturing.

It features a lighted softball field, picnic shelters and playground equipment.

The park sometimes is referred to as “Dieomatic Park,” because land for it was donated by Montezuma Manufacturing, once known as “Dieomatic.”

Bonham Memorial Park

The Bonham Trail, as it’s often called, starts just off Clark Street on the south end of town and runs almost a mile before ending at County Road V-13.

The trail is a shaded corridor of woods and wild berry plants that sits atop former railroad right of way.

There is a nice resting spot at about the midway point of the gently curving trail.
