The Poweshiek Animal League

Shelter (P.A.L.S.) was a popular
exhibitor at the 2008 Montezuma
Business Expo.
Business Expo held March 11, 2008
The annual Montezuma Area Business Expo, held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, in the Montezuma Community School, was sponsored by the Montezuma Community Boosters.
The Business Expo is a once-a-year indoor mall with a distinct Montezuma flavor. Residents were able to meet 61 retailers, home business operators and officials of church and civic groups.
The public paid no admission fee. Many vendors offered prizes which were given away during the evening.
A meal was served by Ellie's Soda Fountain. It included a sandwich, chips, cookie and a drink for $5.
A ten-foot booth space, complete with an eight-foot table, cost $30 for Community Boosters members and $40 for non-members. Non-profit organizations were able to participate for free, but needed to pre-register.
Setup time was from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m., with members of the Montezuma FFA chapter helping vendors to carry in their materials. The FFA members also helped vendors carry out after the show.
Setup time – and the 5:30 p.m. start time for the show – were a half hour later than in previous years.
Vendors were able to load from the north parking lot, but had to park in the south lot during the show in order to free up parking spaces for the public.
Vendors were asked to register for the show by Feb. 20. Registrations were sent to the Montezuma Community Boosters at P.O. Box 111, Montezuma, Iowa 50171. For more information, e-mail boosters@montezuma.org or contact Linda or Keith Brake at 623-3333, or Jo Ahrens at 623-5640.
